New Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill continued his prolific run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 with a half-century in his side’s clash against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday. Gill completed 4,000 runs in the IPL en route to his fifty and broke Virat Kohli’s record.
Gill shattered Kohli’s record for being the youngest to reach 4,000 runs in the league. The GT captain went past the 4,000-run mark on Sunday, aged 26 years and 216 days, surpassing Kohli, who achieved the feat at the age of 27 years and 195 days. Gill also became the second-fastest Indian to complete the milestone.
The Gujarat Titans star breached the 4,000-run mark in his 118th innings in the IPL, only behind KL Rahul, who leads the elite list, having achieved the feat in 105 innings. Rahul continues to hold the record for being the fastest Indian to 4,000 runs in the IPL, with Gill now in second spot. Kohli holds the third spot, having reached 4,000 IPL runs in 128 innings.
