In Hindu religion, fasts and festivals are determined on the basis of Udaya Tithi. This is the reason why the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi will be observed on Monday, 13 April 2026.
Varuthini Ekadashi puja material
Some necessary materials should be prepared in advance for worshiping Lord Vishnu on the day of Varuthini Ekadashi. Yellow clothes, idol or picture of Lord Vishnu, Ganga water, Panchamrit, Tulsi Dal, fruits, flowers, incense, lamp, sandalwood, Akshat and Naivedya have special importance in worship. Worship of Lord Vishnu is considered incomplete without Tulsi, hence Tulsi leaves must be included.

Clean the home temple or place of worship and install the idol of Lord Vishnu. Now purify with Ganga water and bathe the Lord with Panchamrit. After this, offer them yellow clothes and offer sandalwood, akshat, flowers and basil leaves. Light incense sticks and perform aarti of Lord Vishnu and recite Vishnu Sahasranama or Ekadashi fast story. Keep a fast throughout the day and if possible eat only fruits. Break the fast the next day on Dwadashi tithi.
