According to this latest announcement made by the Telangana government, the dearness allowance of the employees of the State Road Transport Corporation i.e. TGSRTC has been increased by 2.1 percent. After this new change, the total dearness allowance of these employees has now increased from 50.7 percent to 52.8 percent.
About 38 thousand employees will benefit directly
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar himself has given information about this step of the government. He told that about 38 thousand employees of the corporation will get direct financial benefits from this decision. This is a matter of great relief for those employees who were hoping for improvement in their salaries amid rising inflation.
When will you get the benefit of increased salary?
The Transport Minister has also clarified that the revised dearness allowance will be considered effective from January 1, 2026. This means that the outstanding money of the previous months will also be given to the employees. According to the information, whatever arrears accrue for the months of January, February and March, it will be added to the salary for the month of April and deposited in the bank accounts of the employees. This decision of the government will put an additional financial burden of about Rs 2.82 crore every month on the state treasury, but keeping in mind the welfare of the employees, the government has approved it.
Decision taken in special meeting with officials
This important announcement was taken after a high level review meeting held with Y Nagi Reddy, Deputy Chairman, Managing Director, TGSRTC. Executive directors and other senior officials participated in this meeting. During the meeting, the facilities for the working employees of the corporation were discussed in detail.
There was an increase of 2.1 percent in 2025
The minister reminded that all the pending DAs from the time of the previous government have now been paid. After the implementation of RPS-2017 in May 2024, the government is continuously taking decisions in favor of the employees. Earlier in July 2025 also, a similar increase of 2.1 percent was approved.
Still waiting for the decision of the Central Government
On one hand, while states like Telangana are taking decisions at their own level, on the other hand, central government employees are still in a state of confusion. Usually, the central government announces dearness allowance by the end of March, which comes into effect from February. But this year, half of the month of April is about to pass and till now no official order has come from the Centre.
