Vaishno Devi Yatra To Resume From Sept 14; Officials Ask Devotees To Carry THESE Documents

Vaishno Devi Yatra Start Date: The Vaishno Devi Yatra, which was suspended on August 26 following a cloudburst at Adhkuwari in the Trikuta hills of Katra area killing 36 people, is set to resume from September 14.

According to the Shrine Board officials, quoted by the Northlines, “Following a temporary suspension necessitated by inclement weather conditions and essential maintenance of the track leading to the Holy Shrine, the Yatra to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shall resume from September 14 (Sunday), subject to favourable weather conditions.”

What Are The Documents That Devotees Need To Carry?

According to the Shrine Board officials, the pilgrims should carry the mandatory Vaishno Devi RFID (separate RFID cards for each devotee) card, which is an electronic card obtained from the Yatra Registration Counter (YRC) at the start of the journey or from self-help kiosks.

Moreover, pilgrims should carry valid identification proofs, such as Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, and passports. Non-resident Indians (NRIs) need to carry their valid Indian passport or a valid Permanent Resident Certificate. Devotees can visit the official website of the Shrine Board “www.maavaishnodevi.org” for live updates, booking services and helpline assistance.

The pilgrimage to the Vaishno Devi Shrine, located in the Reasi district of Jammu, was halted after flash floods and coudbursts hit several parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The Shrine Board has expressed its gratitude to all the people who have patiently waited for the Yatra to resume.

“The resumption of the Yatra marks a reaffirmation of our collective faith and resilience and the Board remains committed to upholding the sanctity, safety and dignity of this revered pilgrimage,” it said.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, has constituted a high-level committee comprising three members to investigate the reasons behind the flash floods.
