Congress appoints Girish Chodankar as the new chief of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), replacing Amit Patkar. The move, approved by Mallikarjun Kharge, also includes the appointment of three working presidents and a new treasurer.

Seeking to strengthen the party in Goa, the Congress on Friday appointed party leader Girish Chodankar as chief of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).

Girish Chodankar has held various organisational responsibilities. The appointments were approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

“Congratulations @girishgoaINC for being appointed as @INCGoa President,” Congress said in a post on X.

New Working Presidents and Treasurer

The party also named three working presidents for the Goa unit – MK Shaikh, Altone D’Costa, and Carlos Alvares Ferriera. Datta D Naik has been appointed as the treasurer of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.

The party also placed on record its appreciation for the outgoing GPCC President, Amit Patkar, acknowledging his contributions to the organisation.

Key Committee Appointments

The Congress also approved appointments for key organisational committees in the Goa unit.

Yuri Alemao has been appointed as the chairperson of the Campaign Committee. Captain Viriato Fernandes has been named as chairperson of the Manifesto Committee.

The Coordination Committee will be headed by Francisco Sardinha as chairperson, while Sunil Kawthankar has been appointed as co-chairperson.

The party said all appointments are with immediate effect. (ANI)
