Story of ‘Diamond King’ Savji Dholakia
There was a time when Savji Dholakia was a common youth of Gujarat. When he reached Surat, known as the ‘Diamond City’ of India, he had only Rs 12 in his pocket. He had also borrowed this money from his uncle. He had no other option but to find a job in Surat. But the company he formed after this, ‘Hari Krishna Exports’, is today one of the largest diamond export companies in India. Today the total value of his diamond company is around Rs 15,000 crore. In the business world, people know him as ‘Diamond King’.
No less than Kuber for employees
This name is not only because of his business, but also because of his generous deeds. Every year on Diwali, Hari Krishna Exports organizes a big event for its employees. Here, employees do not just get boxes of sweets or bonus checks as gifts. Dholakia gifts cars, houses and diamond jewelery to his employees. Once he gifted 1200 cars and house plots to 400 employees in a single program. The special thing is that most of these people were diamond cutters and polishers working in his factory, not any big manager or officer.
His generosity has continued for years. His dream is that every person working in his company should have his own house and car. He considers it not his generosity, but the need of the employees. They say, “The more you give, the more you get.” He believes that if the employees of a company are struggling to earn their living, then that company can never be successful.

Lakes are being built in villages
Apart from his business, Dholakia also donates money to build lakes in rural areas of Gujarat. Water shortage is a major problem in those areas, which directly impacts the farmers there. In this way, Savji Dholakia is not only known as a big businessman but also as a generous person.
