New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance headed to Islamabad to lead talks with Iran amid rising conflict. Before the talks, five Pakistani F-16 fighter jets were seen escorting the US Air Force’s Boeing C-32A plane in Pakistani airspace.

Vance landed at Nur Khan Airbase near Islamabad as the US Vice-President set to hold talks with an Iranian delegation on Saturday, April 11. This meeting will be a historic moment, as it marks the highest-level face-to-face talks between Washington and Tehran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Iranian Parliament Speaker recalls past negotiations with the US

Before the Tehran and Washington meeting, Ghalibaf recalled that, in the past, negotiations with the Americans had failed and been met with broken promises.

“We have good intentions, but we do not trust Americans,” Iranian state media quoted Ghalibaf as saying.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar urged the US and Iran to engage constructively and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to facilitate both delegations to reach a solution to end the conflict.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire, but both nations differed on the negotiating terms as Washington demanded that Iran surrender its highly enriched uranium and accept limits on its military.

On the other hand, Iran wrote a 10-point plan, seeking compensation for their loss and control over the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this, Washington and Tehran stopped attacks on each other, but on another front, Israel bombed Lebanon, saying that the Israeli administration that between the Iran-US-Israel ceasefire, Lebanon was not included.

However, Lebanon and Israel are also holding talks next week as a momentary pause in the conflict.
