Congress councilors Rubina Iqbal Khan and Fauzia Sheikh Aleem refused to sing ‘Vande Mataram’ in the House. He cited religion behind this. Other members of the House expressed strong opposition to this, but till now no official statement has come from the Congress in this matter.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav gave a sharp reaction on this entire matter. He said that after this incident the entire state Congress should resign. According to him, Congress is not able to come out of its double character. He also said that the women councilors of the Municipal Corporation have crossed the limits of decorum.

The Chief Minister said that it was extremely unfortunate that a councilor flatly refused to sing Vande Mataram in the House and openly said that she would not sing it. He called this an example of the real character of Congress. The CM demanded a clear answer from State Congress President Jitu Patwari, national leadership and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on this issue. He raised the question why the party is promoting such people.
