Ferrari’s first EV pace was so blistering that it needed NASA’s intervention

New Delhi: Ferrari is preparing for their first electric vehicle and requires some help in developing it. It partnered with LoveFrom, the creative founded by Sir Jony Ive, Apple’s former design chief, in order to design the cabin. The carmaker also had to reach out to NASA to ensure that the EV’s acceleration didn’t actually disturb the passengers.

During an interview with Autocar India, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna told the publication that EVs can accelerate at quite a powerful range and that might be “disturbing” to the brain. Hence, the Italian automaker went to experts and even conducted medical studies in addition to working with NASA.

As per Vigna, the brand wanted to find out what level of acceleration people will find disturbing. He noted that too much acceleration doesn’t necessarily mean it is a good thing, but it just makes people wish for it to stop. Despite all the consulting with NASA and medical experts, the Ferrari Luce will undoubtedly be quite quick.

Ferrari Luce: Everything we know about it

Ferrari’s slow rollout of its first EV has already revealed some preliminary information about the car. Last October, the brand claimed that the EV would make over 986 bhp and do 0-100 kph in 2.5 seconds and would have a top speed of 308 kph.

It will get four electric motors and a 122 kWh battery. Ferrari Luce will have independent rear-wheel steering and an active suspension system, which it will borrow from F80 and Purosangue. The brand has already shown the interiors of the Luce, and from that, it does look quite bonkers. The Ferrari Luce is expected to debut sometime later this year.

From the outset, there are high hopes that it will have to deliver to justify wearing that Ferrari nameplate. Ferrari isn’t just for pace but a statement of everything that human aspirations stand for.
