Dacoit Box Office Collection Day 1: The much-anticipated action drama Dacoit, featuring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, made its theatrical debut on April 10, 2026. Despite facing stiff competition from Dhurandhar The Revenge and receiving a mixed critical reception, the film has managed to secure a respectable foothold at the box office on its opening day.
Dacoit India Box Office Update
On its first day, Dacoit collected approximately Rs 6.50 crore net in India. As a bilingual project shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the film saw its strongest performance in the southern regions. The Telugu version was the primary driver of revenue, contributing Rs 5.60 crore, while the Hindi version brought in Rs 0.90 crore.
In terms of regional distribution, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana accounted for the lion’s share of the earnings, totalling around Rs 5.50 crore. Karnataka added a further Rs 80 lakh, whereas interest in Tamil Nadu and Kerala remained relatively low, contributing Rs 15 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.
Dacoit Global Box Office Success
While the domestic start was modest, the film performed notably well on the international stage. Bolstered by strong advance bookings in North America, Dacoit earned over ₹6 crore from overseas markets. This brings its total worldwide opening day collection to an impressive Rs 13.57 crore gross.
Dacoit vs Dhurandhar 2
The film’s journey has not been without hurdles. It faced a direct challenge from the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar 2, which continues to dominate the box office even in its fourth week. On the day Dacoit was released, the spy sequel earned Rs 8.56 crore, remaining the preferred choice for many cinema-goers.
Critically, the film has received a lukewarm response. While Mrunal Thakur’s performance has been widely praised, some viewers felt the plot and chemistry between the leads were lacking. Directed by Shaneil Deo, Dacoit follows an escaped convict seeking revenge against an ex-girlfriend who betrayed him. With a supporting cast including Anurag Kashyap and Prakash Raj, the makers are now hopeful that weekend footfalls will see an uptick.
