Who are the American citizens imprisoned in Iran?

According to reports, at least 6 American citizens are detained in Iran, although the names of all have not been made public. Two prominent names among them are Kamran Hekmati and Reza Valizadeh. Reza Valizadeh is a journalist who worked for “Radio Farda” and became a US citizen in 2022. After visiting Iran in 2024, he was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Kamran Hekmati is a jeweler who went to Iran to meet his family, but his passport was confiscated there and he was later arrested. Both are being held in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison, which is notorious for holding political prisoners.
