Chennai: The Directorate of Government Examinations has issued instructions mandating the scrutiny of answer scripts belonging to students who secure full marks during the evaluation process for the recently concluded Class 12 and Class 11 (Arrear) public examinations. This directive has raised questions regarding whether it will prove advantageous or disadvantageous to the students.
Tamil Nadu 12th result: Commencement of answer script evaluation
With the Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations for the year 2026 having concluded on April 2, the evaluation of answer scripts for Plus 2 students has been underway since April 6. Thousands of Post-Graduate and Graduate teachers are currently engaged in this evaluation process. Similarly, the evaluation of answer scripts for Class 10 students commenced today. The public examination results for Class 10 students are scheduled to be released on May 20, while the results for Class 12 students are set to be published on May 8.
Scrutiny of answer scripts scoring 100 percent
Against this backdrop, Ms. Sasikala, Director of Government Examinations, has instructed all Camp Officers to specifically scrutinize the answer scripts of candidates who secure full marks during the ongoing evaluation of the recently concluded Class 12 and Class 11 (Arrear) public examinations. Orders have been issued directing that these scripts be examined with utmost care before being signed off.
The directive states that regarding the evaluation of answer scripts for the March 2026 Higher Secondary Second Year and First Year (Arrear) public examinations, all Camp Officers are instructed to carry out the evaluation process in strict adherence to the guidelines and instructions outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures for evaluation work, as established during the meeting held for Zonal and Camp Officers on March 14, 2026.
Process for camp officers
All camp officers are required to log in using their respective User IDs and Passwords, and navigate through the following path: Valuation Camp Report -> Evaluation Centre Report -> Centum Mark. The Director of Government Examinations has stated that camp officers must download the list of candidates who obtained full marks and take appropriate action.
Mixed Reactions
While it is argued that the careful re-examination of answer scripts belonging to students who achieve a perfect score in public examinations helps prevent errors and ensures transparency, students have expressed concern that this process could potentially result in a reduction of their perfect scores.
