Mirai has opened to rave reviews by fans and critics alike. And the audience who got to witness the early shows on Friday cannot stop talking about the visual appeal of the film. Scroll down to read more as we delve into the shooting location of the Teja Sajja-starrer!
Mirai shooting location
Mirai has been shot extensively across diverse terrains. Locations include the Himalayas, Nepal, Bangkok, and Mumbai. In an interview with IANS, Teja recalled the intensity of the filming experience. He said, “We have shot this film in the Himalayas, in Nepal, in Bangkok, in Mumbai, and I do not even recollect, we have travelled a lot, a lot.”
The actor admitted that the process was physically exhausting but rewarding. “Very difficult, not just on the mountains, the whole film, every location was real. So, we had to go for hours together where there are no roads at all, we had no vehicles, we were walking for kilometres together to get that one particular shot to make it look that good. So, yeah, it was very difficult,” he shared.

Is Mirai based on a real story?
The movie unfolds in a mythological-futuristic world, tracing the journey of a warrior known as the Super Yodha. Tasked with guarding Emperor Ashoka’s nine sacred scriptures, believed to hold powers capable of turning humans into deities, he faces the menacing group Black Sword, led by Mahabir Lama.
The central concept is derived from the legend of Ashoka’s “Nine Unknown Men.” According to the tale, the Mauryan emperor formed a secret society in 270 BC to preserve dangerous knowledge. Each of the nine men was entrusted with a book, containing wisdom in fields such as physiology, communication, alchemy, propaganda, and sociology. It is said that information from these texts was revealed only when the world faced dire crises.
Though historians often dismiss the theory as folklore, the legend has fascinated writers like Talbot Mundy and Louis Pauwels. The idea of a secret brotherhood safeguarding ancient wisdom continues to spark curiosity even today.
