Gulf tension has no effect on India, government said – abundant stock of gas and medicines, prices will also remain stable

The turmoil that has taken place in West Asia in recent times has increased the concern of the entire world. Amidst such global developments, the first question that arises is whether this stress will affect our kitchen, our pockets or our health? Clearing all these apprehensions, the government has clarified in a detailed inter-ministerial briefing that there is no need to panic. Despite supply chains being badly affected globally, India has created a strong security loop that will not directly burden the public.

Gulf crisis has no effect on your pocket, medicine prices under control

Whenever there is an international crisis, the first thing that starts happening is the prices of essential commodities. There were similar serious concerns regarding the availability of raw materials for medicines. But it is a matter of relief that the government has adopted a very coordinated and concrete strategy. Under this strategy, it has been ensured that there is no hindrance in the supply of raw materials to the drug manufacturing companies. The direct benefit of this to the common man is that there has been no major increase in the selling prices of medicines and drugs within the country. Life saving medicines are reaching you at the same normal prices which were there before this crisis.

No shortage of LPG, black marketing curbed

The largest import from West Asia is petroleum and gas, so naturally people were afraid of shortage of LPG. The ground reality is completely opposite. The supply of domestic gas cylinders in the country is completely smooth. The Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system has been strictly implemented to ensure that gas reaches the common consumer at the right time and that there is no illegal tampering in between. This technology has resulted in a spectacular increase of 92% in certified delivery figures.

The easy availability of gas in the market can be gauged from the fact that while on an average 77,000 FTL gas cylinders were being sold daily in February 2026, yesterday this figure crossed 1.06 lakh. Along with this, the use of pipelined gas (PNG) has also increased rapidly. Recently, more than 18,000 consumers have surrendered their old LPG connections through MYPNGD.in portal. Apart from this, news of a big relief has also come from the sea. Indian flag LPG cargo ship ‘Green Asha’ has safely reached Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) after crossing the highly sensitive route of the Strait of Hormuz on 5th April. This ensures that the stove in our homes will continue to burn without any interruption.

2,170 Indian citizens were brought to India

Along with keeping the arrangements within the country in order, the government is also fully prepared for the safety of its citizens stranded abroad. The Indian Embassy located in Tehran, the capital of Iran, has successfully carried out a major evacuation operation. Under this operation, a total of 2,170 Indian citizens, including students and fishermen, have been brought back to India through safe land routes through Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Amidst this regional geopolitical tension, India is also continuously strengthening its diplomatic hold. The Foreign Minister is going on a very important visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 11 and 12 April 2026. The main objective of this visit is to deeply review the bilateral relations between the two countries and take the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.
