Adivi Sesh‘s labour of love is hitting theatres on April 10. The film, which also stars Mrunal Thakur opposite Sesh, and has Anurag Kashyap was originally slated for release on March 19, 2026. However, ahead of the film’s release, on March 11, Adivi took to social media to announce that the film has been postponed due to a busy box office and was pushed to an April 10 release.
At that time, Dacoit was slated to clash with Akshay Kumar’s Bhoot Bangla, a box-office war it averted owing to the latter now getting postponed by a week. Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2, which saw Ranveer Singh return as Hamza Ali Mirza decimated box office competition by becoming one of the highest earning films in recent history. So, will the Dhurandhar 2 wave affect Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit’s theatrical run?
In an exclusive interaction with Zoom, Adivi, who started his career with the 2002 Sontham and even had a supporting role in SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali: The Beginning accepted the event film status of Dhurandhar, even likening it to the IPL which runs for a few months, before speaking about the flavours of cinema.

“I think Dhurandhar 2 is like a wave,” said, adding, “I liken it to the IPL, that will last a couple of months which I find beautiful.” However, the Dacoit actor went on to add, “But I also think India is a vast country which has room for other kinds of cinema, different kind of movies and different kinds of people for them to catch different kinds of films.”
Dacoit, even before release is receiving a lot of love from industry stalwarts who seem to have loved the trailer of the film. Commenting on the same, Adivi shared, “I think I am in a Zen like mode. I truly believe we did what every passionate writer, actor, or my friend filmmaker Shaneil would do.”

Commenting on the film itself, Adivi added that they are “truly proud” of the “beautiful love story” that they have told in the “rhythm of an action film”. “It is a little bit of what I know, what I am known for and a little bit of what I have tried anew,” the actor reminisced.
“There is that beautiful optimism that comes when you see that you are trying something new for the first time and I am very excited for the audience to be watching it,” Adivi signed off on a positive note.
Dacoit is a Telugu Hindi bilingual romantic action entertainer with a revenge plot. On the work front, Adivi Sesh was last seen in the 2022 HIT: The Second Case, directed by Sailesh Kolanu. Mrunal Thakur, on the other hand was seen in the romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi.
