IPL 2026: DDCA director alleges ticket fraud at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium

New Delhi: The Delhi and District Association director Anand Verma, on Thursday, alleged that valid ticket-holders are being denied access to the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium by some unauthorised persons. The incident has been reported but no action has been taken so far.

He further said that these few people, in turn, have obtained duplicate tickets through fraud, a charge which has been rejected by DDCA’s top brass. In a complaint filed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District), Verma alleged that he along with his guests were not allowed to enter the hospitality section of the stadium despite having valid tickets for the April 4 IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.

Tickets used by unauthorised persons, alleges Verma

The DDCA director also said in his complaint that the tickets assigned to him had already been used in a fraud manner by the unauthorised persons to access the facility. Despite the complaint, some DDCA officials, which included secretary Ashok Sharma said that it was a technical issue denying any wrongdoings.

‘When the Complainant and his guests arrived at the designated entry gate of the stadium, they were illegally stopped and denied entry by the security personnel manning the entry point,’ stated Verma.

‘Upon enquiry, the Complainant was shocked to learn that the two complimentary physical tickets in his possession had already been scanned and used for entry by some unknown and unauthorised persons,’ he added.

Verma apprises DDCA president, CFO

Anand Verma also said that as soon as he discovered the blatant fraud, he contacted Manan Gupta, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DDCA, and apprised him of the illegal misuse of the tickets. Verma said he has also brought the issue to the notice of DDCA President Rohan Jaitley as well. Having hosted two matches thus far, Delhi’s stadium is set to host five more matches in the ongoing T20 tournament.
