Mercedes-Benz India hits record FY26 sales, premium models lead demand

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India recorded its highest-ever annual sales in FY 2025–26, selling 19,363 units. This is only a slight rise from 18,928 units in the previous financial year, showing steady but slow growth. In the January to March 2026 quarter, the company sold 5,131 cars, which is 7 per cent more than the same period last year.

Most of the growth came from higher-priced models. At the same time, the entry-level luxury segment faced some slowdown, mainly because more affordable options in the market have increased competition.

Top-end cars drive growth

Mercedes-Benz saw strong demand for its high-end cars, including models like the S-Class, Maybach range, EQS SUV and AMG line-up. Sales in this segment went up by 16 per cent over the year and 25 per cent in the last quarter alone. These cars now make up 27 per cent of the company’s total sales in India. Some models, such as the AMG G 63, have waiting periods going up to 12 months.

The core segment, which includes the C-Class, long-wheelbase E-Class, GLC and GLE, continued to bring in steady numbers. The long-wheelbase E-Class, especially the E 450 version, remained the best-selling luxury sedan in the country, according to the company.

However, the entry-level luxury segment dropped by 18 per cent during the year. The company linked this decline to rising competition from lower-priced rivals offering aggressive deals. Mercedes-Benz said it will focus more on product quality and brand value instead of chasing volumes through discounts.

EV push and new expansion plans

Electric vehicles are becoming more important for Mercedes-Benz India. Battery electric vehicles made up 20 per cent of its top-end sales in FY26. In fact, high-end EVs priced above Rs 1.4 crore saw an 85 per cent jump in sales, led by models like the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV and the electric G-Class.

Mercedes-Benz India is planning to open more showrooms in 2026. The company wants to add over 20 new outlets, and its partners will invest more than ₹450 crore. New showrooms are expected in cities like Visakhapatnam, Varanasi, Goa and Pune in the coming months.
