New Delhi: An Indian gangster, Rao Inderjeet Yadav, has been arrested in Dubai. The man fled to the Middle East in 2024 after the murder of a businessman in Haryana’s Rohtak. He is expected to be extradited to India very soon, said sources. They added that the Dubai authorities had asked for documents related to the gangster, in order to expedite his extradition process.

Who is Rao Inderjeet Yadav?

Rao Inderjeet Yadav is the owner and key figure of a music company, Gem Records Entertainment Pvt Ltd. This company is known as ‘Gem Tunes’ in the market and was founded in 2006. This company operates as a ‘Video on Demand’ (OTT) platform and is known to produce regional content.

The company reportedly produces and distributes regional songs in Harayanvi, Punjabi and Hindi, reported NDTV.

The owner of the company, Yadav is known to have a luxurious lifestyle and enjoys massive following on social media. He has 15 lakh followers on Instagram. The man is also known for posting pictures with Bollywood celebrities.

Criminal activities

Though Yadav’s seems to be a social media sensation, there is also another side to this story. He has over 15 cases registered against him. These were filed by both the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh police. The man is accused of extortion, coercive loan settlement of private financiers, armed intimidation, and earning commission from such illegal activities.

Following the murder of a businessman in Haryana, the Enforcement Directorate even launched a money laundering probe against him, last year. The probe agency found several incriminating evidences and data linked to Yadav and his associates, during raids carried out in Delhi and Gurugram. They recovered 5 high-end luxury cars, bank lockers and Rs 17 lakh in cash.

Yadav is also involved in several murders, extortions and coercive settlement of loans given by private financers. There are also cases of fraud, cheating, illegal land grabbing and other violent offences, registered against him.

The ED described him as acting as a “strongman and enforcer”, who helped settlement of some high-value private loans from finances and several disputes, running into crores. He also ran a website to facilitate loans between corporate houses and private financers, said the probe agency.

In December 2024, Yadav’s name emerged in the murder of businessman Manjeet Dighal. A gang led by Himanshu Bhau had claimed responsibility for the murder, but investigations revealed involvement of Yadav as well. Soon after the case was filed, he fled the country.
