Kerala Assembly Election 2026: Kerala’s Assembly Election 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from across society, including some of Malayalam cinema’s most prominent stars. Actors Mohanlal, Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran were among the early voters who stepped out to cast their ballots, encouraging citizens to take part in the democratic process.

Polling began early across the state, with queues forming at booths even before voting officially started. Veteran actor Mohanlal was among the first high-profile voters of the day. The Drishyam star arrived at Mudavanmugalil School in Thiruvananthapuram around 7 am, standing patiently in line at Booth 36 in the Nemom constituency.

Dressed in a simple white shirt, the actor reached the polling station before the official start time. His early arrival quickly caught attention on social media, with many fans praising the gesture.

Mohanlal urges voters to participate

After casting his vote, Mohanlal shared a message encouraging citizens to exercise their democratic right. The actor said he had fulfilled his responsibility and urged people across Kerala to participate in the election.

Another iconic figure from Malayalam cinema, Mammootty, also cast his vote during the day. The veteran actor arrived at the polling centre accompanied by his wife, Suflath. Their presence drew attention from fans and local voters gathered at the location.

Malayalam film industry shows strong participation

Several other well-known personalities from the film industry also took part in the polling process. Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi cast his vote in Guruvayoor. Meanwhile, actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran voted at Thevara Fisheries School along with his wife, Supriya Menon.

Filmmaker and actor Renji Panicker also participated in the elections, casting his vote at the Kadavanthara YMCA. Speaking about the significance of the democratic process, Panicker reflected on India’s political system.

He said democracy operates through both favourable and challenging times and noted that India’s democratic structure stands strong when compared with other countries that gained independence during the same era.
