Due to its mild sweetness and soft texture, Kaju Katli is one of the most popular sweets of India. The main ingredient to make it is cashew nuts which makes it special. Apart from this, sugar and desi ghee are used in it, but despite buying it at expensive prices, it is not guaranteed that it has been made in a pure manner. Many times people adulterate flour or increase sugar. If you also like Kaju Katli, then try making Peanut Pak once. If you eat it, it tastes exactly like Kaju Katli.
Making Peanut Pak is also not very difficult and it is also much cheaper than Almond Pak or Cashew Katli. You can also try making it at home once. This is a sweet which is liked very much by children as well as adults, so let’s see the recipe.
What are the ingredients required?
Half kg peanuts, 350 to 44 grams sugar or as per taste, 22 ml water for syrup i.e. half the quantity of sugar. A little saffron, half kilo khoya (mawa), a little cardamom powder.
Know how to make it
- The first thing you have to do is to roast the peanuts thoroughly.
- For this, keep the flame low and keep stirring continuously so that the rawness comes out and the peanuts do not burn.
- Take out the roasted peanuts in a big plate and after they cool down, mash them with your hands and remove the peels.
- You can also remove the shells from peanuts by rubbing them in a clean towel, which is a quicker way to do the job.
- Filter out the peels, separate the peanuts and then start grinding them.
- While grinding peanuts in the grinder, run it on pulse mode. Remove the lid in between and keep turning it with a spoon and grind it finely. If you want the texture of Kaju Katli then make powder.
- Put sugar and water in a pan. Cook it until the sugar dissolves completely and it becomes sticky.
- You should also add saffron threads in the syrup itself. This will add taste as well as a good aroma to the barfi.
- When one string syrup is ready, add cardamom powder and crumbled khoya into it.
- Cook it while stirring. When khoya melts, add 2 spoons of desi ghee to it.
