Raipur. Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap conducted a comprehensive review of departmental work in a meeting held at Aranya Bhawan in Nava Raipur. During this time, he introduced the ‘Preliminary Offense Report (POR)’ system to strengthen digital monitoring. This new system will speed up monitoring of forest crimes and bring transparency in action.

Impact of schemes on ground is necessary: ​​Instructions to officials

The Minister told the officials that merely making plans is not enough, but their impact should be visible on the ground. He asked the department to work expeditiously for employment generation, expansion of forest-based industries and strengthening the identity of the state.

Review of CAMPA works and target of 100% expenditure

In the meeting, the progress of various schemes, especially CAMPA works, was reviewed with the Chief Conservator of Forests and Divisional Forest Officers. The Minister directed that 100 percent expenditure of all the approved CAMPA works for the years 2024-25 and 2025-26 should be completed by September 2026 under all circumstances. He clearly said that funds should not lapse under any circumstances.

Instructions to improve land bank and wildlife management

To overcome land related problems, emphasis was laid on strengthening the land bank system, so that development works are not delayed. Besides, instructions were also given to improve the quality of wildlife management schemes, increase expenditure and fix accountability of officials.

Tourism will increase through eco-tourism and PPP model

The Minister talked about issuing new guidelines soon to promote eco-tourism and giving impetus to tourism through PPP model. Along with this, instructions were also given to provide fair prices and facilities to tendu leaf collectors.

Promotion of employment and forest based activities in Bastar

The minister said that Bastar region is now free from Maoism, hence active presence of the forest department is necessary there. He gave instructions to promote employment oriented works, get wells drilled and send proposals for necessary infrastructure. He also talked about ensuring 100 percent collection of minor forest produce and giving priority to the works related to processing.

Emphasis on tree plantation campaign and nursery development

In the meeting, emphasis was laid on making the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign effective by linking it with public participation. Along with this, instructions were given to prepare big saplings in nurseries under ‘Ji Ram Yojana’ and ensure maximum distribution of saplings.

Strict action against illegal activities and forest fire

The Minister directed to take strict action in cases of illegal hunting, illegal logging and encroachment. Asked to increase the activity of field staff and ensure prompt action to prevent incidents of forest fire during the summer season.

Transparency in forest rights and compensation process

In the meeting, emphasis was laid on maintaining transparency in the distribution of forest rights certificates and giving benefits only to the eligible beneficiaries. Besides, instructions were also given to give immediate compensation in cases of loss of life due to wild animals.
