The family dispute surrounding late businessman is taking new turns everyday. Now, his mother Rani Kapur has publicly spoken out against his widow Priya Kapur.
In a series of statements, Rani described the ongoing will and trust conflict as both “deeply painful” and “personal,” framing it as a battle to protect her family’s legacy. The controversy has also drawn attention due to its connection with Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay’s former wife, and their children, whom Rani says she remains in close contact with.
Rani Kapur sends fresh legal notice to Priya Kapur
Rani Kapur, in her remarks to ANI, made it clear that the dispute goes beyond legalities. “It’s very hurtful for me because my husband made this trust and gave everything to me,” she said, referring to the RK family trust. She made it clear that the business and assets in question were built over decades by her late husband, adding that she had personally contributed to building both the company and their family home after relocating from Mumbai to Delhi.
She alleged that tensions escalated after Sunjay’s marriage to Priya Kapur, claiming that the situation began to change significantly during that period. Rani suggested that Priya began asserting control over the business soon after Sunjay’s death. Rani maintained that she finds it difficult to accept claims over a legacy she believes was created long before Priya became part of the family. In one of her more pointed remarks, Rani said, “I don’t want her near that place,” expressing fear and uncertainty about returning to Delhi, where the family’s primary assets are based. She added that she has stayed away since her son’s passing and is apprehensive about what might happen if she returns.
Rani Kapur also confirmed that she has issued a formal notice to Priya Kapur, asking her to stop acting as a trustee. According to her, Priya’s removal has already taken effect following the notice period, and any attempt to challenge her own position within the trust is “legally invalid.”

Rani also made personal allegations regarding her late son’s relationship, stating, “She wouldn’t have had the guts to have a dispute if Sunjay had been alive.” She further suggested that she was extremely close to her son, noting that he rarely made decisions without her involvement. While these claims remain unverified, they underscore the emotional intensity of the conflict.
Importantly, Rani clarified her continued bond with Sunjay’s children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor. “He was married to two nice girls, a good family. He’s got two children from his second wife, whom I meet all the time,” she said, confirming she has a good relationship with the actress.
