New Delhi: Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi will be honoured with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2026. The announcement was made by Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The award will be presented during the 84th death anniversary programme of Deenanath Mangeshkar.
The event is organised by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan and Hridayesh Arts, in association with the Sakal Media Group. The ceremony honours individuals who have contributed to art, culture and society.
Tribute to Mangeshkar legacy
The programme serves as a tribute to the Mangeshkar family, known for its contribution to Indian music. It celebrates the legacy of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, whose work shaped Indian music across generations.
List of awardees this year
Apart from Satyarthi, several personalities will receive awards in different fields. Mahesh Kale will be honoured for music, while Shama Bhate will be recognised for dance. Subodh Bhave will receive an award for theatre and cinema.
In cinema, Raveena Tandon and Prajakta Mali will be honoured. Sushil Kulkarni will be awarded for journalism, and Achyut Godbole for literature.
Dhananjay Kelkar will receive a special award. Anand Bhagwat from Vasundhara Sanjeevani Mandal will be honoured for social service.
The Mohan Wagh Award for Best Theatre Production will go to the play “Bhumika”, starring Sachin Khedekar. Producers Dilip Jadhav and Shripad Padmakar will also be recognised.
Event details and performances
Vishwanath Karad, Founder-President of MIT World Peace University, will attend as the chief guest. The evening will feature a musical tribute titled “Mee Lata Dinanath…”, presented by Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
Performances will be given by Vibhavari Joshi, Madhura Datar, Savani Ravindra, Shreyasi Pavgi, Manisha Nischal, Rutuja Tare and Dr Unmesh Karmarkar.
The programme will take place on April 24, 2026, from 5 pm to 10 pm at Ganesh Kala Krida Mandir.
The Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award is seen as a national honour that recognises individuals whose work creates lasting social and cultural impact.
