New Samson game goes live in few hours, early players compare it with GTA6 and Max Payne

New Delhi: The noise around Grand Theft Auto 6 is getting louder every day. So it is no surprise that any new city-based action game is getting dragged into the same conversation. The latest name doing the rounds is Samson: A Tyndalston Story, which launched on April 8 on PC.

We watched some early gameplay clips late at night, and it gave us a strange mix of nostalgia and curiosity. It felt closer to old-school Max Payne than GTA chaos. Still, the comparisons are not going away anytime soon.

Samson vs GTA 6 talk is getting loud

Early players describe the game’s world as “raw, immersive, and unapologetically grounded,” which explains why Liberty City keeps coming up in conversations.

The setting is Tyndalston, a fictional city inspired by 90s New York. Think wet streets, dim lights, and a constant sense of tension. It does remind you of older Rockstar games, but the structure is different. This is not a wide-open sandbox where you just go wild.

The story sticks closer to one man’s struggle. You play as Samson, trying to pay off mounting crime debts. The focus stays on survival and personal choices rather than pure freedom.

Gameplay keeps it simple but intense

The gameplay leans heavily on close combat and driving. Combat is built around fists instead of heavy weapons, which already sets a different tone. Driving plays a big role too, with what the developers call “weaponised driving.” There is a skill system in place, and missions tie into a daily debt mechanic that keeps pushing you forward. It is a single-player experience, and early details suggest that choices can have lasting effects on how things unfold.

Price in India and platform details

The game is priced at 24.99 US dollars, which comes to roughly ₹2,400 in India right now.

You pay once and get the full experience, with no microtransactions attached. It is available on PC through Steam and Epic Games Store starting April 8 in IST. The total playtime is expected to be between 10 to 25 hours, depending on how much you explore. Console versions are planned, though there is no confirmed date yet.

Early impressions and what to expect

The game comes from Liquid Swords, a studio led by Christofer Sundberg, known for his work on Just Cause. This is their first release, built over five years.

From what we have seen so far, Samson does not try to compete directly with GTA. It feels smaller, more personal, and a bit rough. And sometimes, that is exactly what works.
