Ranveer Allahbadia latent controversy: Samay Raina recently brought up last year’s drama in India’s online comedy world. The comedian shared some behind-the-scenes stories about the viral India’s Got Latent episode with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, aka Beer Biceps.

In his new stand-up special, Samay Raina Still Alive, he explained that the infamous question that sparked so much outrage wasn’t just asked once; Ranveer actually repeated it several times while filming.

Samay reveals BeerBiceps asked the controversial question 8 times

Samay talked about this during a bit where he poked fun at how the episode was edited. He said that even though Ranveer kept coming back to the same question, almost all those takes were cut before the episode aired.

“Main tumhe maa ki kasam sach batata hoon. Uss episode main Beer Biceps ne voh sawal 8 baar poocha tha. Aur iske alawa bhi kayi ant shant sawaal poochhe the usne. Toh ab jab maine edit dekha na, maine kaha, ‘Yeh toh bohot gandi baatein kari hain isne’, (I swear on my mother, I’m telling you the truth. In that episode, BeerBiceps asked that question eight times. And apart from that, he also asked many other random and bizarre questions. So when I finally saw the edit, I said, ‘He has said some really inappropriate things here.’) Samay said during the special.

He then explained the reasoning behind his final edit.

“‘Chalo ek rakh deta hoon, baaki sab hata deta hoon.’ From my point of view, I had removed 99 per cent of the inappropriate content.”

The comedian delivered the confession in his signature humorous style, turning what was once a tense episode in his career into a moment of self-reflection and comedy. Clips from the stand-up special quickly began circulating online, with fans praising his candid take on the situation.

What was India’s Got Latent controversy?

The controversy originally erupted in 2025 after Ranveer asked a provocative question on India’s Got Latent: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” Although the panel, which included Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, initially laughed off the remark, the clip soon sparked outrage on social media. Many viewers criticised the question as offensive and inappropriate.

The backlash escalated rapidly. Multiple FIRs were reportedly filed against Ranveer Allahbadia and the show’s producers. The situation intensified further when the National Commission for Women (NCW) stepped in, prompting BeerBiceps to submit a written apology.

The matter even reached the Supreme Court, which granted Ranveer interim protection from arrest but criticised his remarks. The court reportedly described the comment as “vulgar” and said it reflected a “dirty mind” that brought shame to society.

In his stand-up special, Samay Raina also spoke about the emotional fallout from the incident. He admitted feeling guilty when fellow comedians received death threats and legal notices during the height of the controversy. The situation also caused distress for his family, particularly his parents.
