New Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident from Pandori locality of Punjab’s Sultanpur Lodhi, a woman lost her fifth and last son to drug addiction.
The deceased has been identified as Sonu, while his mother is Manjit Kaur. According to family members, four of her sons — all in their 20s — had already lost their lives due to drug addiction.
The woman in a viral video had begged for help to save her son after which the administration swung into action and admitted him to Govt Medical College, Amritsar. The ailing man passed away within 24 hours of being admitted.

While police say that their could be multiple causes behind the deaths of the her sons and that each case is under investigation, the woman has rejected these claims. She says that drug addiction was the real reason behind the deaths of all her sons.
Amid grief, the woman has appealed to chief minister Bhagwant Mann to provide a government job to her daughter-in-law so that she can rebuild her life and support the family.
Locality is in grip of drug menace, says woman
Talking to Times of India, the mother said that she knew her lone surviving son was an addict when she married him off. “We got him treated, and he was fine for some time. I wanted my family’s name to continue,” she added. The woman has four grandchildren to take care of.
The woman has alleged that their locality is in grip of drug menace, with several youths losing their lives. She has also demanded strict action against drug traffickers, saying no other family should have to endure such devastating loss.
