IPL 2026 Today Match 8th April 2026: In the 14th match of IPL 2026, there will be an exciting match between Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, April 8. The toss of this match to be held at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi will be at 7 pm, while the first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm. Both the teams have already reached the venue. In the current season of IPL, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have entered their initial matches. Now both the teams have understood how important the middle order is. Not just for the points table, but the victory and defeat of both the teams have also largely depended on the performance of their middle order.
Sameer Rizvi and Stubbs played a big role in DC’s victory.
The first match was not easy for Delhi Capitals. While chasing the target of 142 runs against Lucknow Super Giants, the team had lost 4 wickets for 26 runs. In such difficult times, Sameer Rizvi, as an impact player, scored an unbeaten 70* runs in 47 balls. Along with him, Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 39* in 32 balls and led the team to a spectacular victory. Rizvi showed amazing performance in the second match also. DC’s score against Mumbai Indians was 2 for 7 runs, but he scored 90 runs in 51 balls to help the team achieve the target of 163 runs.
GT’s middle order becomes weakness
Gujarat Titans had a good start in the first two matches, but the middle order disappointed the team. There was a strong score of 83/1 in 10 overs against Punjab Kings, but after that none of Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia could score well. The result was that the team could not score big and lost the match. Chasing the target of 211 runs against Rajasthan Royals, GT was in a strong position of 107/1, but once again the middle order failed.
GT’s middle order figures raise concerns
Since IPL 2025, the average of GT’s batsmen from numbers 4 to 7 has been only 20.1, which is much lower than other teams. Because of this, the good performance of the team’s top order Shubhman Gill, Sai Sudarshan and Jos Buttler is also becoming ineffective. If GT has to win and stop DC’s winning streak, the middle order will have to play better.
GT relieved by return of Shubman Gill
DC would not like to make much changes in its playing eleven, but Nitish Rana and Vipraj Nigam may get another chance. The good news for Gujarat Titans is that captain Shubman Gill is now fit. He could not play in the last match due to neck problem. Now there is a possibility of his comeback and he can enter the opening. GT may also consider including Jason Holder in the team to strengthen the middle order.
