Vaibhav Sooryavanshi passed the biggest test of his playing career with flying colours as he smashed Jasprit Bumrah for two sixes in his first over of the 13th match of IPL 2026 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
The fans had doubts about whether Sooryavanshi would be able to take on Bumrah and hit him for a six. Sooryavanshi continued to bat with his fearless approach and he smashed MI’s lead pacer for a six on the very first ball of his spell. The look on Bumrah’s face told the complete story as he seemed to be impressed with Sooryavanshi’s batting.
After hitting Bumrah for a six, moved to the other end with a single. Yashasvi Jaiswal brought Sooryavanshi back to the crease on the third ball. Sooryavanshi, 15, hit Bumrah for another six on the fourth ball. Bumrah went for 14 runs in his first over.
He took on Shardul Thakur in the fifth over and hit him for two sixes and a four. The senior pacer had the last laugh and he got Sooryavanshi caught by Tilak Varma. But he leaked 18 runs in the over. Batting with a strike rate of 278.57, Sooryavanshi hit 5 sixes and a four in his knock. He was dismissed for 39 off 14 balls.
Quick start for Rajasthan Royals

Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a quick start to RR and smashed 22 runs in the opening over of the fixture, bowled by Deepak Chahar. He welcomed Boult with back-to-back sixes in the 3rd over.
RR and MI are locking horns in an 11-over fixture in Guwahati. The match started 150 minutes after the scheduled time due to the rain in the city. At one stage, the heavy rain threatened to wash out the fixture.
The groundsmen took no time to make the ground fit to play after the rain stopped. A win here will see RR move to the top spot in the IPL 2026 points table.
