‘s Dayaben, Disha Vakani, lost her father, Bhim Vakani. He was a veteran theatre, television and film actor, who also featured in the show in multiple episodes.
Bhim breathed his last this morning. According to reports, he was living with this family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Disha and her brother, Mayur Vakani, are yet to issue an official statement on their father’s demise. The cause of his death is still unknown. His funeral will be held in Ahmedabad today. The news of his demise was confirmed by Asit Kumar Modi, the creator of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
Disha Vakani’s father, veteran actor Bhim Vakani dies
told Money Control that Bhim wasn’t unwell. The news of his demise came this morning. The entire family was by his side in his final moments. He added that the veteran actor contributed a lot to Disha’s career. “We had a family-like bond; whenever he came to Mumbai, he’d come home, and we’d hang out. It feels like a part of my family has gone with him,” Asit shared.

Bhim Vakani was a known personality in theatre, cinema and television. Not just Gujarati, he left a lasting impact with his performances in the Hindi entertainment industry. He had worked in notable Bollywood films such as Lagaan, Swades, and Lajja. Throughout his illustrious career, he gave memorable characters.
Bhim Vakani shared screen with daughter Disha in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
Disha, who followed her father’s footsteps into acting, shared the screen with him a couple of times in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He played the role of Dayaben’s father-in-law, Champaklal Gada’s friend, Mavji Chheda. Champak asks his son, Jethalal, to send a cooker to Mavji as a gift for his newlywed son and daughter-in-law. However, Bagha makes a blunder and exchanges Rs 50,000, meant to be given to Bhide, with the cooker.

Bhim has two children – Disha and Mayur. Both have been pivotal to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Mayur is best known for playing Dayaben’s brother Sundarlal’s role in the sit-com. Professionally, he is a painter and sculptor.
