Golmaal 5: No Romantic Angle In Ajay Devgn’s Film, Rohit Shetty Breaks Franchise Tradition – Report

Eight years after Golmaal Again, Rohit Shetty is all set to return with the film’s fifth installment. A few weeks ago, the filmmaker made an official announcement about Golmaal 5’s shoot.

While sharing a video on his Instagram handle, the director spoke about commencing his journey on the fifth part of the Golmaal franchise. It was revealed that Akshay Kumar is the latest addition to the comic caper. The latest development is that there won’t be a romantic angle in the movie, according to a media report.

Update on Golmaal 5

As reported by Variety India, this is the first Golmaal film (part five), which will have no romantic angle for its leading man. With reportedly no romantic angle between hero and heroine in Golmaal 5, the long-standing tradition of the franchise will be broken.

And while Priyamani is a part of the comic caper, the actress apparently doesn’t have any romantic angle with Ajay or any of the male stars. For the uninitiated, Ajay was paired opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3. In Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, the actor was romantically paired opposite Rimi Sen. Later, in Golmaal Again, Parineeti Chopra played the female lead.

A couple weeks ago, Rohit shared an update about Golmaal 5. The director admitted that the first installment changes his life. And he credited audience for it. Reflected on the past 20 years, Rohit stated that team Golmaal entertain masses, but sometimes disappointed them. However, they’ve always been honest with their work.

“So now, once again, my fabulous team and I are set on a journey to entertain you as we start filming G5. You have always loved and supported me. All we need is your blessings. See you at the movies,” he added.

About last Golmaal film

Meanwhile, the fourth installment of Golmaal was theatrically released in 2017. Helmed by Rohit, the film featured Ajay, Tabu, Parineeti, Arshad, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Johnny Lever, and Kunal Kemmu. It hit the big screen on October 20, 2017 and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Coming to Golmaal 5, it brings back Ajay, Arshad, Tusshar, Shreyas, and Kunal. It also marks Sharman Joshi comeback to the franchise. Akshay is likely to portray a negative role in the comic caper. That said, the makers haven’t made an official announcement about the film’s release date. Are you excited about watching the film? Tweet @TimesNow and share your thoughts on X.
