Bhopal. There are some moments in Indian history which become memorable forever. In the beginning of April 2026, one such historic event took place in the religious city of Varanasi. The spiritual union of Baba Vishwanath’s Kashi and Baba Mahakal’s city Ujjain made ‘Vikromotsav-2026’ a grand cultural festival. The 3-day grand drama ‘Samrat Vikramaditya’ organized by the Culture Department of Madhya Pradesh Government and Maharaja Vikramaditya Shodhpeeth was not just a play, but an attempt to revive Indian culture and pride.

Historic beginning: Confluence of good governance of two states

This grand event started with a special moment, when Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appeared together on the stage. Dr. Yadav described Emperor Vikramaditya as a ‘global hero of good governance’ and said that his life is the best example of justice, patriotism and service to the people. Yogi Adityanath described it as a symbol of the resolve of ‘One India-Greater India’ and mentioned Emperor Vikramaditya’s connection with Ayodhya.

‘From Mother Ganga to Narmada’: Cultural and Tourism Bridge

The major achievement of this event was an important agreement (MoU) between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Based on the theme “From Mother Ganga to Narmada”, the initiative aims to strengthen the cultural and religious ties between Kashi Vishwanath and Mahakaleshwar. This will boost tourism in both the states and open new opportunities for devotees.
