Surya Ghar Yojana: Chhattisgarh is included in the country’s leading states in power generation. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that by 2027, a target is to install solar panels on 5 lakh roofs. The state will meet the country’s energy needs by producing 60,000 MW of electricity.
Raipur. Chhattisgarh is included in the country’s leading states in power generation. Under the Pradhan Mantri Suryagh Free Power Scheme, a target has been set to install solar panels on the roofs of 1 lakh 30 thousand houses in the state by March 2027. It is the effort of the state government to increase this number to 5 lakh roofs.
Consumers are being given major subsidies under this scheme.
- Central assistance ranging from Rs 30,000 to 78,000 is being given directly to the bank account at solar plant from 1 kW to 3 kW.
- Apart from this, the Government of Chhattisgarh is also providing additional subsidy.
- Overall, consumers are receiving up to about 75 percent of the cost of the plant.
This information was given by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai while addressing the 97th National Conference ‘Forum of Regulators’ held in Nawa Raipur.
Chhattisgarh’s power generation capacity in 25 years
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that in 25 years of state establishment, Chhattisgarh’s production capacity has reached 30,000 MW.
- The partnership between the state sector (state sector), private sector and central sector is producing more than 30,000 MW of electricity from the land of Chhattisgarh.
- Recently MoUs have been signed for the establishment of power stations with more than 32,000 MW capacity.
- These include heat electricity, pump storage, atomic, battery storage and solar power projects.
He said that in the coming years our goal is to become a state to produce more than 60,000 MW.

Per capita electricity consumption and state achievement
The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is ahead of the country in per capita power consumption. The average consumption here is 2,211 units, while India average is only 1,255 units. Chhattisgarh is producing more electricity than its need and is contributing to the development of the country. The state not only fulfills its needs but also provides electricity to neighboring states.
Amendment in solar power policy
Chief Minister Shri Sai informed that a revision in the policy that has been implemented by 2030 has been approved to promote solar energy in the recent cabinet meeting. Under this, renewable energy projects have been given priority in the Industrial Policy.
