Punjab Kings moved into first place on the points table after getting one point from Monday night’s game. The match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was cancelled because of rain.
Heavy rain meant the game lasted for only 22 balls. After winning the toss, Kolkata surprisingly chose to bat first even though it was cloudy and Shreyas Iyer’s team managed to take two wickets before the rain stopped play.
After beating the Gujarat Titans in their first game, Punjab kept winning by successfully chasing a big target of 210 runs against the Chennai Super Kings last week. Punjab has a solid team and also finished in first place during the regular season last year, losing only three times before narrowly losing the final by just six runs.
Meanwhile, things have gotten worse for KKR as they are still looking for their first win. However, the rained-out game gave them their first point of the season, moving them above GT and CSK in the rankings. Before the match started, KKR made two changes to their team, leaving out Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine.
