Triumph rolls out updated 350cc engine bikes, prices start at Rs 1.95 lakh

New Delhi: Triumph has introduced a new version of its 400cc platform, but with a smaller 350cc engine. This move has been expected for some time, mainly because the lower engine capacity attracts an 18 percent GST rate, which helps keep prices more competitive. Interestingly, the company has not changed the “400” name across these bikes, even though the engine size has gone down.

The updated range now includes multiple models built on this revised platform. While the overall design and positioning remain similar, the key difference lies in the engine and its output figures. Triumph has also expanded the line-up by adding a new Tracker 400 for the Indian market.

All the new models now use a 349cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine has an 89mm bore and a shorter 56.1mm stroke, compared to the earlier 64mm stroke. This reduction in stroke is what brings down the overall displacement.

Because of this change, power and torque figures have dropped slightly across the range. The Speed T4 now produces 29hp at 7,500rpm and 31Nm at 5,500rpm, which is lower than the earlier 398cc version. The Speed 400 and Scrambler models now make 37hp and 32Nm, again slightly less than before.

The new Tracker 400 and Thruxton 400 get the same engine but tuned differently. In their case, the output goes up to 40hp at 8,750rpm and 32Nm at 7,500rpm, making them the most powerful in this updated line-up.

Price and model line-up

Triumph’s new range includes six models in total. The Speed T4 remains the most affordable option at Rs 1.95 lakh. The Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.32 lakh, followed by the Tracker 400 at Rs 2.46 lakh.

In the scrambler range, the Scrambler 400 costs Rs 2.59 lakh, while the more off-road focused Scrambler 400 XC is priced at Rs 2.90 lakh. The Thruxton 400 sits near the top of the range at Rs 2.66 lakh
