Jajjar: IIT-wale Baba, who rose to fame during Prayagraj Mahakumb held last year, has tied the knot. The baba, whose real name is Abhay Singh, has married an engineer from Karnataka. A native of Haryana’s Jajjar district, the news of his marriage came to light after he arrived in the city to meet his father.
His wife, Prateeka, also accompanied him to visit his father. He was in Jajjar to meet his parents and other relatives. On Monday, he arrived at the tehsil complex to meet his father, who is an advocate. It was here that he interacted with the media.
Who is IIT-wale Baba?
The IIT-wale Baba became a social media sensation last year during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. He was seen roaming around the Mela wearing a dress as an ascetic. He can be heard claiming, “I am a graduate of the IIT.” The claim instantly took him to the spotlight, earning him the distinct identity of “IIT-wale Baba.” He came became popular since then.
An alumnus of IIT-Bombay and a former aerospace engineer, he had said while speaking to news agency ANI last year, “I come from Haryana, I went to IIT, then changed to Arts from engineering. That also didn’t work, so I kept changing, and later I arrived at the final truth, reflecting on his unconventional path.”

The IIT-wale Baba recently got married to Prateeka, who is an engineer and hails from Bengaluru in Karnataka. The couple got married on February 15, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, at the Anjor Mahadev Temple in Himachal Pradesh. They also had a court marriage on February 19. Speaking to the media, she said that both he and her husband would dedicate their life to the cause of Sanatana Dharma. She added that while the couple intended to establish a Sanatan University, the objective will be to bring spiritual gurus and seekers of spirituality under one roof.
In the meantime, as soon as the news of ‘IIT Baba’s’ marriage surfaced on social media, he became a subject of extensive discussion across various platforms. However, IIT-Baba’s family members are yet to respond on his marriage.
