Chennai Super Kings’ performance so far in IPL 2026 has been very poor. This team has lost all three matches. Meanwhile, former cricketer R Ashwin has said something about this team which is surprising. Ashwin also said in a few gestures that the reason for his decision to retire was also the environment of Chennai Super Kings. R Ashwin revealed that if he had not gone through a mentally disturbing and painful period while playing for Chennai Super Kings, he could have played for a little longer in the Indian Premier League. Ashwin had said goodbye to international cricket in the year 2024. After this he also retired from IPL last year.
Ashwin spent his last season in Chennai
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, ‘I spent a disappointing season with CSK. To be honest, I felt that I could play more but I retired because I didn’t have the strength emotionally to play with so many other things. Ashwin said, ‘I decided to retire because they did not have to face a dilemma whether to keep me in the team or to drop me. Apart from this, he also saved Rs 10 crore due to my retirement.
“With such a young side, there’s only one way to go… upward.”

‘Chennai’s environment will deteriorate’
R Ashwin also said a big thing on the poor start of Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. He said that the atmosphere of Chennai team will be very bad right now. He said, ‘I am sure the atmosphere in the dressing room will be very tense. I am sure that after this crushing defeat against RCB, there will be an atmosphere of extreme disappointment in the dressing room of Chennai. Ashwin said, ‘It is very difficult to describe in words CSK’s defeat at the hands of RCB. The match between RCB and CSK is one of the most popular matches of IPL. Ashwin told that there are some shortcomings in the CSK team, there are many players in their team who do not have much experience. In such a situation, good performance cannot be expected from them as soon as they arrive.
