Major security lapse at Delhi Assembly after car enters premises

New Delhi: In a major security breach in the Delhi Assembly, a car broke into its premises on Monday. The vehicle entered the complex after entering through the main gate of the Assembly, sparking alarm among security personnel in the Assembly.

As per reports, the car moved inside the complex briefly before disappearing from the building. The incident has raised a major security concern on the security protocol of the Delhi Legislature. The Delhi police started probing the incident as soon as the incident came to notice. Ink was also reportedly thrown at the Delhi Speaker’s car.

In the initial probe, the Delhi Police have started checking CCTV cameras in and outside the Assembly and other available evidence to trace the vehicle and find out the driver. Apart from this, the Delhi Police is also reviewing access points and questioning assembly staff.

“A car bearing a Uttar Pradesh registration number forcefully entered through Gate No. 2, breaking the iron gate in the process. The driver proceeded towards the office of the Hon’ble Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Shri Vijender Gupta, and placed a flower bouquet near the porch. The incident has raised serious security concerns, and authorities are treating it as a potential security breach,” DCP (North) Raja Banthia said.
