Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has confirmed the death of its intelligence chief Brigadier General Sardar Majid Khademi. Iran alleges that he died in an air attack in Tehran, behind which America and Israel were involved.
Tehran: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has confirmed that its intelligence chief, Brigadier General Sardar Majid Khademi, has been killed. According to Iranian media, he was killed in an attack in the early hours of Monday. Iran has directly blamed America and Israel for this attack. Khademi was an important face of Iran’s security and intelligence apparatus for the last five decades.
Khademi’s name has also been added to the list of top Iranian officials killed since the US-Israeli attacks began on February 28. Last month itself, security chief Ali Larijani, Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib, Commander Mohammad Pakpur, IRGC spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini and Basij Force Chief Ghulamreza Sulemani were also killed. The IRGC said in a statement that Khademi had played a major role in stopping the infiltration of enemy countries.
The IRGC has not clarified where and how Khademi died. However, according to reports, several airstrikes took place in residential areas around the capital Tehran early on Monday. Shortly thereafter, the IRGC confirmed the death of the intelligence chief. Iran has said in its statement that Khademi was killed in a joint operation between America and Israel. But not much information has been revealed yet about the method or exact location of the attack.
13 people died in air attack
A total of 13 people are reported to have been killed in these air attacks that took place one after the other in Tehran. Many people have also been injured in the attack that took place last night. The airstrike took place early in the morning in a residential area of a city southwest of Tehran. Iran’s Fars and Noor news agencies reported that the attack took place near Islamshahr. However, it is not clear which building was targeted.
This attack happened after Trump’s post on ‘Truth Social’ in which he had threatened to face serious consequences if he did not open the Strait of Hormuz. However, Israel or America have not yet taken responsibility for this attack.
Apart from this, Sharif University of Tehran was also targeted. It is believed that research work related to Iran’s ballistic missile program takes place here. A natural gas supply center near the university was also damaged in this attack.
