New Delhi: It was a carange at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David made a mockery of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling attack in the clash between the two sides in IPL 2026 on Sunday. David smashed an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls to power RCB to a huge total of 250/3 in 20 overs, their highest against CSK in the history of the IPL.
Put into bat first, RCB got off to a steady start before Phil Salt hammered a quickfire 46 off 30 balls and Devdutt Padikkal slammed a fluent 50 off 29 to lay the platform for a strong total. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar and David then launched an unreal onslaught against the CSK bowlers to power the hosts to 250, with a whopping 96 runs off the last 30 balls.
While Patidar played aggressively, David stole the show with his brute-hitting prowess. The Aussie all-rounder smashed eight sixes and three fours to race to an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls, taking the CSK bowlers to the cleaners. David also smashed a monstrous 106m six en route to his 70-run knock, sending the ball out of the stadium.
On the final ball of the 19th over, David smashed a shortish length delivery from CSK all-rounder Jamie Overton for a massive 106m six. The right-hander launched it over deep square leg as the ball landed in Cubbon Park after going over the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving fans in awe.

David, who is known for his big hits in the death overs, had practised hitting sixes out of the ground at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s training sessions before the game. He executed it to perfection against Overton as the ball landed out of the park after being smashed brutally.
“Yeah, I’ve been getting in trouble with training the boys. We have competitions to try and hit them on the roof and we’re obviously on the side pitches. So to get one during a match out of the middle is pretty pleasing. And Jamie’s bowling quicker at that stage. So, get on the one, help it up on the roof. It’s good fun,” said David when asked about his monstrous 106m hit against Overton.
RCB make it 4 wins in a row against CSK
After posting a massive total of 250 runs, RCB bowlers bowled great lines to bundle out CSK for 207 runs and secure a commanding 43-run victory for the hosts at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was RCB’s fourth win in a row against CSK as they continued their domination against the Men in Yellow in the Southern Derby in the IPL.
CSK last beat RCB in the opening game of the season in IPL 2024. The five-time champions have since lost four matches in a row against their noisy neighbours, losing the bragging rights in a rivalry that they dominated over the years under the legendary MS Dhoni.
