- The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has revoked the recognition of 32 nursing institutes across Assam and Bihar after they missed applying for statutory inspections for several years.
- The failure of the state governments and of the Nurses and Midwives to submit recommendations regarding the suitability of these colleges prompted the INC to derecognise them.
“The Indian Nursing Council records show that these institutions have failed to apply for statutory inspection for several years and were found deficient, unsuitable for conducting nursing programmes,” according to the official order by the INC.
Owing to non-adherence to the guidelines, INC said that it would restrict the registration of graduates from the selected colleges to state only which means, any candidate possessing a recognised qualification from these institutions will be allowed to register only in the of Assam and Bihar respectively.
