New Delhi: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) moved to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs on Sunday’s double header. In the afternoon, LSG also registered their first win of the season against SRH.
The defending champions have 4 points in two matches at +2.501 net run-rate, while CSK remained at the bottom of the table after losing their opening three matches. RCB posted 250/3 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Tim David smacked an unbeaten 70 runs off 25 balls with the help of 8 maximums and 3 boundaries.
Devdutt Padikkal also scored a brilliant fifty, while Phil Salt (46) and Rajat Patidar (48*) also made crucial contributions. Chasing the massive target, CSK got off to a poor start as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jacob Duffy dismissed Samson, Gaikwad and Mhatre cheaply. Sarfaraz and Prashant Veer batted well, but other batters failed to contribute in the run chase as CSK suffered another massive defeat.
In the first match, LSG defeated SRH by 5 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The hosts got off to a poor start as Travis Head (7), Abhishek Sharma (0) and Ishan Kishan (1) failed to contribute with the bat. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy forged a 116-run partnership for the fifth wicket as SRH posted 156-9 in 20 overs.
In reply, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram forged a 37-run partnership for the first wicket. Eshan Malinga dismissed Marsh for 14 runs in the fifth over, while Ayush Badoni (12) and Nicholas Pooran (1) also failed to contribute. But, skipper Rishabh Pant smashed an unbeaten 68 runs off 50 balls to help LSG chase down the 157-run target.
