Mirzapur Ganja Smuggling Case: In Mirzapur, police and SOG team took major action and recovered 100.60 kg of illegal ganja. 5 smugglers supplying from Orissa to UP were arrested. The value of the recovered ganja is said to be around Rs 50 lakh.
Mirzapur News: Police have exposed a big drug game in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. A gang supplying ganja from Orissa to Purvanchal districts was caught by the police in a filmy style. The joint police team has recovered more than 100 kg of illegal ganja worth about Rs 50 lakh. Five vicious smugglers have also been arrested in this action.
Smuggling network spread from Orissa to Purvanchal
Investigation has revealed that this network of ganja smugglers was spread from Orissa to Uttar Pradesh. Smugglers used to bring ganja from Orissa and supply it to Mirzapur, Prayagraj and surrounding districts. According to the police, this gang was active for a long time and had created a strong network in different districts.

After secret information, police laid a trap
Mirzapur police had already received information about smuggling. After this SOG and surveillance team were activated. On Sunday, Padri police started intensive vehicle checking. Meanwhile, a four-wheeler (UP 32 FV 0200 – Honda City) was stopped and searched. As soon as the car was examined, the police were also surprised.
More than 100 kg of ganja found in car search
When the police team searched the vehicle, 100.60 kg of illegal ganja hidden in it was recovered. Its price in the international market is said to be around Rs 50 lakh. Police recovered ganja from the spot and also seized the car being used in smuggling.
These five accused were arrested
Police have arrested five people from the spot. During interrogation he was identified as:
- Satyam Singh alias Rahul Singh, resident of Aghwar, Police Station Padri, Mirzapur.
- Saurabh Mishra alias Pushkar Mishra, resident of Deori, Police Station Padri, Mirjapur.
- Vikas Tiwari alias Vikku, resident of Deori, Police Station Padri, Mirjapur.
- Rajan Tiwari alias Vishwajit Tiwari, resident of Nabaiya, police station Meja, Prayagraj.
- Pawan Pandey, resident of Deori, Thana Padri, Mirjapur.
The police have registered a case against all the accused and presented them in the court.
The entire path of smuggling was revealed during interrogation.
The arrested smugglers told during interrogation that they used to bring ganja from Sambalpur (Orissa). It was hidden in cars and supplied to Mirzapur, Prayagraj and surrounding districts. Smugglers used to divide the money earned from selling ganja among themselves and fulfill their luxuries with it.
Many gang members are already criminals
According to the police, some members of this gang are already involved in criminal activities.
- Many cases are already registered against Satyam, Pawan and Vikas.
- Pawan Pandey is also said to be a history-sheeter of Padri police station.
That means this gang was active in illegal business for a long time.
Disclosing the matter, police officials said that on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik, a continuous campaign is being run against illegal liquor and drugs in the district. This big success has been achieved under this campaign. The police are now investigating this entire network and trying to find out who else is connected to this gang.
Police say that legal action has been initiated after taking possession of the recovered ganja and the seized vehicle. Besides, other possible members of this gang are also being searched. Officials say that the campaign against drug trafficking will continue in the future also, so that the youth can be saved from the trap of drug addiction.
