Rizwan ISIS Link: Rizwan, suspected to be linked to ISIS from Kushinagar, was arrested by UP ATS and Delhi Police in a joint operation. The international call and Explosive Substances Act charges are under investigation. The father said, if he is guilty then he should be punished.
Kushinagar ISIS Suspect Arrest: Late Saturday night, security agencies conducted a major operation in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh and arrested a youth named Rizwan. This action was taken by the joint team of Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad and Delhi Police Special Cell. Rizwan’s name has already surfaced in cases related to terrorist organization ISIS. After his arrest, he has been taken to Delhi on transit remand, where he is being interrogated.
Father’s statement: If you have committed a mistake then you should be punished
After the arrest of Rizwan, the statement of his father Nizamuddin came out. He clearly said that if his son is found guilty, he should be punished as per the law. Nizamuddin is a retired government employee. He said, “We are citizens of this country and love our country. If my son has committed any mistake and he is guilty, he should be punished.” He also made it clear that he does not support any kind of illegal activity.

On what charges were the arrests made?
According to Delhi Police, Rizwan was being wanted in a case in which charges have been filed under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act. Investigating agencies had received input that he had been making international calls in recent days. These calls put the security agencies under suspicion, after which his activities were monitored and then action was taken.
Rizwan has been on the radar of agencies before also
Rizwan’s name first came up in front of investigating agencies in 2016, when the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad arrested him for alleged links to ISIS. After this, he remained lodged in Delhi jail from 2017 to 2023 in a blast case. After being released from jail, he seemed to be leading a normal life again, but now the agencies suspect that his activities had not completely ended.
What were you doing after coming out of jail?
After coming out of jail, Rizwan changed his location and started running a fast food shop. Investigating agencies believe that this work could be done to show a part of his normal life. However, the agencies suspect that behind this he was trying to influence the youth or maintain contact.

What are the investigating agencies looking for now?
Delhi Police is now taking Rizwan to Delhi and interrogating him in detail. Investigating agencies are trying to find out how big his network is, where he was getting funding from and whether he has contacts with any other suspicious people.
