Meanwhile, social worker Anjali Damania has claimed that there were several phone conversations between former Maharashtra Women Commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar and Ashok Kharat. Damania has claimed to have talked on the phone about 177 times between the two. Damania revealed this while talking to a Marathi news channel.

According to Damania, it was also revealed in the CDR that after his wife, if Kharat talked to anyone the most, it was Rupali Chakankar. He claimed that there were a total of 177 phone conversations between Chakankar and Kharat, the total duration of which was said to be 33,727 seconds. He also told that the longest phone call between the two was about 21 minutes. Let us tell you that after her relationship with Ashok Kharat came to light, Rupali Chakankar resigned from the post of Chairperson of Maharashtra State Women’s Commission. However, he said he had no knowledge of Kharat’s alleged criminal activities.
17 conversations between Ashok Kharat and Eknath Shinde
Social worker Anjali Damania has claimed that there were at least 17 phone conversations between Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and self-styled ‘Baba’ Ashok Kharat. Damania gave this information while talking to a Marathi news channel. Responding to Damania’s allegations, Shinde Sena leader and state minister Uday Samant said that calling a person is not a crime in itself.
Claim of conversation with Ashish Shelar also
Damania also claimed that there was once a phone conversation between BJP leader and cabinet minister Ashish Shelar and Ashok Kharat. Responding to this, senior BJP leader and minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that it is not wrong to talk or meet someone on phone. He clarified that criminal responsibility is established only when direct involvement in a crime is proven.

It is noteworthy that in March 2026, a married woman had accused Ashok Kharat of repeatedly raping her for three years, after which he was arrested. Till now a total of 8 FIRs have been registered against him. After his arrest, Kharat’s pictures with many big leaders of Maharashtra went viral on social media. In the year 2022, the then Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had also visited the temple of Kharat.
