When reporters asked him about the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections scheduled for April 23, Rajinikanth chose not to respond. He politely declined to comment and said, “Vanakkam,” before moving on.
Last month, the actor had addressed remarks made by Aadhav Arjuna, who claimed that Rajinikanth stepped away from politics due to pressure from the DMK. In a statement issued in Tamil, he said, “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who condemned his slanderous remarks and raised their voices in support of me… Time doesn’t speak, but it waits and gives the answer.”
Rajinikanth had earlier announced in December 2020 that he would launch a political party and contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in 2021. However, he later withdrew the plan, describing a health scare as “a warning from God.” He wrote at the time, “I will serve the people in whatever ways I can, without entering electoral politics.”
On the film front, Rajinikanth will reprise his role as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian in Jailer 2. The sequel also features Mohanlal in a cameo, with Shah Rukh Khan expected to appear in a special role.
