Donovan Ferreira vs Rashid Khan: In the second qualifier match of IPL 2026, a short but stormy innings of explosive batsman Donovan Ferreira of Rajasthan Royals was seen. Star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again played a stormy innings for Rajasthan, who was batting first in this match against Gujarat Titans and scored 96 runs. Whereas Ferreira gave a bang to the team by hitting 4 sixes in the last over. His victim was veteran spinner Rashid Khan, who equaled an unwanted record of giving the most runs in an over in the playoffs.
In this match played in New Chandigarh, Rajasthan Royals, who were batting first, lost 2 wickets in just 2 overs. At such a time, Vaibhav Suryavanshi took charge of the innings and took the team close to 200 runs by scoring more than 90 runs for the second consecutive match. But as soon as Vaibhav missed the century and was out on the score of 172, it seemed difficult for the team to cross 200 runs. Rajasthan could not get much runs in the next 2 overs.
Then came the last over, when Rajasthan was on 187 runs. Veteran spinner Rashid Khan came to bowl this over and Ravindra Jadeja took a run on the first ball. From here, only quick shots were hit in the next 5 balls. Ferreira did the job for which he was saved in this over. The South African batsman hit three consecutive sixes on the next three consecutive balls of Rashid. Then he took 2 runs on the next ball and after that he hit the fourth six of the over on the last ball.
In this way, a total of 27 runs came from the over, on the basis of which Rajasthan made a strong score of 214 runs. After this storm of Donovan Ferreira, his franchise Rajasthan Royals also jokingly declared him ‘Demon Ferreira’ in a social media post, which was liked very much by the fans.
This beating at the hands of Ferreira took Rashid Khan to an unwanted record. Rashid’s name has now topped the list of spinners who have given the most runs in an over of an IPL playoff match. In this matter he equaled Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi, playing for Lucknow Super Giants, scored only 27 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2022.
