A man in Guangzhou, China played Ghost Stories for 10+ hours a day to take revenge on a neighbor. Despite the noise being below the legal limit, the court intervened and got it shut down due to concerns raised by other residents.
The dispute between neighbors in China has reached such a point that you will be surprised to hear about it. Here, to take revenge from his neighbor, a man started playing ghostly stories loudly day and night. The matter is of Guangzhou city. Lu and his roommate Li, who live here, had a fight with their neighbor Shi over some issue. The reason for the fight is not clear, but in order to take revenge, Lu and Li installed a loudspeaker on the wall of their house. After this they started playing scary ghost stories on him.
This sequence continued from 8:45 am to 12 noon and then from 3:30 pm to 10 pm. That means scary sounds kept echoing in the neighbor’s house for more than 10 hours a day. This act upset not only his neighbors but also other people living in the building. The biggest problem was faced by a person named Qiu, who lived two floors above. Qiu’s son was preparing for a competitive exam and because of this noise he was not able to study peacefully.

Initially the authorities could not do anything in this matter, because the noise level was within the legal limit. The noise limit allowed is 60 decibels during the day and 50 decibels at night, while the noise at Qiu’s house was just 36 decibels. But when Qiu realized that all this was being done deliberately to harass him, he decided to go to court.
Qiu applied for a ‘pre-litigation injunction’ at the Guangzhou Haizhu District People’s Court. The court heard the application and ruled in favor of Qiu. The court ordered Lu to stop making noise immediately. In the presence of court officials, Lu removed the audio equipment from his home and destroyed the recordings. He also assured the court that he would not commit such acts in future, after which the matter was settled.
