It’s winter season and what could be better than eating onion bhajiya with hot tea. Crispy onion bhajiyas are very tasty to eat. Everyone also likes their spicy taste.
But there is one problem and that is a lot of oil used in making them. Bhajiyas become crispy only when they are deep fried in oil. If you also feel the same then let us tell you today how to make crispy bhajiya in just one spoon of oil. Chef Neha Deepak Shah has shared this recipe on her Instagram account. Let us know the step by step recipe.
Ingredients to make Onion Bhajiya
To make crispy onion and oil-free bhajiya, the ingredients you will need are – two large onions, grated carrot (1/3 cup), green coriander (2 teaspoons, chopped), 2 green chillies, 3/4 cup gram flour, turmeric powder (half teaspoon), red chilli powder (1 teaspoon) and water (2 teaspoons). If you want, you can also add a little celery.
How to make healthy and tasty onion bhajiya
Bhajiyas usually absorb a lot of oil. Therefore, instead of deep frying them, air frying them is a better option. In this way you can make a full plate of onion bhajiya in just one spoon of oil. However, the method of air frying them is a little different, due to which the bhajiyas become absolutely crispy. Let us understand step by step.
First of all, prepare the batter for Bhajiya. In a bowl, add chopped onion, grated carrot (optional), chopped coriander leaves, green chilli, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and gram flour and mix. Prepare a thick batter by adding very little water to it.
Now it’s time to air fry them. For this, first of all air fry them without oil for about 3 minutes. Then after 3 minutes, lightly apply oil on the bhajiya. Now keep them aside for air frying again for 5 minutes. After this, flip the bhajiya i.e. keep it to fry from the other side. Let them cook for about 3-4 minutes. If you air fry in this manner, the bhajiya will become absolutely crispy and it will not seem at all that they have not been deep fried.
