Iran: Why is Iran attacking the data centers of Gulf countries? Its impact reaches America

After the Bahrain attack, Iran has once again targeted the data center of the United Arab Emirates. Iran’s IRGC has attacked the data center of American company Oracle in Dubai. Iran has also made this claim. However, Dubai has rejected this. But this is not the first incident. Iran is changing its war strategy. The methods of attack tell its story. Missiles were fired first. Then targeted with drain and nowIran is destroying the data centers of Gulf countries.

Iran has recently targeted commercial data centers and technology-related assets of Gulf countries. Amazon Web Services were damaged in Bahrain and United Arab Emirates. American tech companies were targeted in Gulf countries.

Iran is understanding the power of Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Global Communication. But the reason behind the attack is not limited to this. The biggest discussion took place when on March 1, Iran targeted two AWS data centers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Shahed drone. Same strategy was adopted for Bahrain on the same day. Data centers have historically been victims of cyber intrusions or espionage, but these incidents have further increased the debate.

What does Iran want to do by destroying the data center?

Due to the destroyed data centers in UAE and Bahrain, many types of services including banking systems and software platforms across the country were disrupted. Sensing the government’s work and consumers’ dependence on cloud-based systems, Iran targeted them under the pretext of strikes on buildings.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed this. Ministry officials had deployed civil defense teams to extinguish the fire that broke out at the company’s premises following the Iranian attack. However, officials did not provide any information about the name of the company affected by the incident, the damage caused, the number of injured or dead.

Through these attacks, Iran targeted both civilian and military data. Not only this, cloud computing is the backbone of the services provided by Amazon, Microsoft and other companies, which make everything possible, from streaming services to government functions.

In the last few years, the dominance of artificial intelligence has also increased in the military sector. Its foundation is data only. The US military is increasingly relying on high-tech artificial systems for decision-making support, intelligence analysis and planning. Tools like cloud AI are being used for everything from target tracking to helping in military operations.

When a military personnel uses such devices, the processing and data management is done in secure cloud environments that may be located far away from the battlefield. This is the reason why Iran is trying to damage the data.

Iran hits three birds with one stone

Gulf countries, especially UAE and Bahrain, are investing in global technology. These have become centers of investment in AI and cloud computing. Major companies including Microsoft, Google, Apple, Meta and Oracle have invested extensively in the infrastructure here.

Billions of dollars have been invested. Through which many projects including AI development, cloud services etc. are going on. By demolishing it, Iran is damaging their infrastructure and data. It is hurting the government’s economy. Not only this, by doing this Iran is also warning the countries having close relations with America.
