Virendra Narayan, Deputy Director of Bihar Education Department, has been accused of earning disproportionate assets. The SVU team raided several districts including Patna, Katihar, Purnia, Vaishali and seized the documents together.
Patna: There is neither a shortage of corrupt officials in Bihar nor the process of action on them seems to be stopping. The latest case is related to the Education Department, where Deputy Director Virendra Narayan has been accused of acquiring disproportionate assets. On the morning of Thursday, 11 September 2025, the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) team raided several of their locations. This action was taken at the houses in Katihar, Purnia, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur and Ramakrishna Nagar area of Patna.
Case of disproportionate assets
It is being told that Virendra Narayan, who is working in RDDE Muzaffarpur in Tirhut division, is serious of earning more than three crore 76 lakh rupees. Vigilance team has registered a case against them at a special police station. According to sources, preliminary investigation has found that the officer has acquired more assets than his official salary and valid income.
The Vigilance team conducted raids in the morning and started checking the documents, property-related papers and other materials. However, till the time the news was written, it is not clear what the team got during the raid. Officials said that detailed information will be shared after the investigation is completed. The matter has stirred administrative circles due to Virendra Narayan being in a big position in the education department.
